Members of the Interfraternal Masonic Relations Commission of New Jersey took to the streets along with members of the Shabazz High School Marching Band where they demanded an immediate end to Newark's shooting violence that has plagued the city for the month of April and has had an early strong presence in May.
Dozens of marchers departed from Temple Sheba located in the 500 block of Springfield Ave., where they walked several blocks in the community urging residence and community members to demonstrate peace and tolerance while demanding that the guns and senseless violence is imeediately done away with.
A representative from the Eastern Stars said, "the black on black violence has gotten out of hand not just in Newark but around the state and throughout the country. We are here for a positive influence on the community" the representative said.
"Eastern Stars and Masons are heavily involved in the community and we want to show that this is something that others can positively be a part of."
"It's all about positive role models and a positive image" the representative continued.
