A barrage of gunfire that erupted in the area of North 9th Street and West 6th Ave. overnight has police investigating.
Police were called to the the area at around 10:30 p.m on reports of several round of gunfire heard from residents. Officers converged on the scene a short time later where they found evidence of as many as 5 shots had been fired, but no victim.
A thorough search of the area had East Orange authorities locating a man (reported to be around 25-years-old) in the 80's block of North 15th Street suffering a gunshot wound to the foot.
EMS transported the man to University Hospital where he was treated for a non-life threatening injury.
There were no arrest reported.
Earlier in the evening, officers rushed to the 900 block of 18th Ave. where gunfire struck an occupied vehicle. There were no injuries reported. A dark colored SUV vehicle fled the scene immediately after the shooting. Officers pulled over a vehicle fitting that description in the area of South 10th Street and South Orange Ave. a short time later. It is not immediately known if this was the suspected vehicle involved in the shooting.
