Victim Handing Over Keys To Carjackers Shot in Newark

Police are on the search for two dangerous suspected carjackers who injured a person during a violent carjacking in the city's South Ward overnight. 

The incident occurred in the 50's block of Winans Ave. after midnight when the suspects approached the victim at gunpoint and demanded the keys to a  black 2000 Ford Expedition. While the victim was reportedly attempting to hand over the the vehicle with the keys, the men opened fire on the owner. 

Police and EMS rushed to the scene where they located the injured victim and transported to University Hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm. The victim's injuries were not considered life threatening. 

The suspects fled in an unknown direction with the vehicle with reported NJ license plate number "Z44-FAU"
