Woman Injured in Strong Armed Carjacking in Newark

EMS has been requested for a female who was injured this evening after a strong armed carjacking in Newark

Police responded to reports of a carjacking that happened in the 500 block of Washington Street shortly before 7 p.m.

Units arrived to the scene where they located a female victim suffering serious injuries after being beaten then carjacked by a black male suspect at that location.

Police are looking for a 5'10" black male with a shaved head and last seen wearing a dark blue sweat shirt and blue jeans according to authorities.

The carjacked vehicle is a 2007 Honda CRV with a reported NJ license plate number "H58-FYP". The vehicle has a black bike rack on the rear.

Police briefly caught of with the vehicle in the area of Osborne Terrace and Clinton Avenue but lost visual contact a short time later.

The victim was transported to Clara Mass Hospital in Belleville.
