The 54-year-old postal worker struck and killed by a van Tuesday morning in the parking lot of a United States Post Office distribution center was identified by police.
According to police, responded to the Dominick V. Daniels Processing and Distribution Center, on Newark Turnpike, shortly before 6 a.m., where Nadiya Assad, of Jersey City, was hit by a 2012 Nissan NV driven by a co-worker.
She was rushed to University Hospital in Newark, where she was pronounced dead at 9:17 a.m.
The crash is under investigating by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Kearny Police Department.
No charges have been filed against the driver, whose identity is being withheld by officials.
