A 23-year-old Newark man caught carrying over $1,000 in counterfeit bills at Newark Penn Station yesterday was arrested, according to authorities.
The 27-year-old victim alerted police after he was reportedly approached by Bangaly Fofana, 23, of Newark.
According to the victim, Fofona approached him inside the station and asked for change for a $20 bill.
After the exchange, the victim became weary of the bill and quickly alerted police.
Fofana was taken into custody shortly after police found him in possession of a plastic bag containing 56 counterfeit $20 bills.
He was charged with two counts of forgery. Fofana was ordered held at the Essex County Jail on $35,000 bond.
