Suspects Possibly Occupying Irvington Carjacked Vehicle Robs Store in Newark

A vehicle that was carjacked Friday evening from an address on Eastern Parkway in Irvington has police in Newark searching for the suspects who they believe are responsible for a commercial armed robbery and an attempted robbery of a gas stations in the city on Saturday afternoon.

Police reponded to an armed robbery in progress at a store located on South 10 Street and Avon Avenue at around 4:15 p.m.

Officers arrived to the scene where they were approached by store employees who reported to them that a slim black male approximately 6ft tall and wearing a mask entered the establishment armed with a gun and demanded cash.

Employees handed over several hundred dollars before the suspect fled the scene in a grey colored vehicle with a partial NJ temp tags "LT".

A short time later at gas station in the 400 block of West Market Street, police responded to reports an armed robbery at that location.

Units arrived to the scene where employees reported to officers that a black male suspect (who was occupying a grey vehicle) brandished a large gun and demanded cash.

The suspect did not receive any proceeds before he fled the scene according to reports.

There were no physical injuries reported.
