An early morning kitchen fire at a Hillside restaurant was quickly extinguished by firefighters, fire officials said.
Crews responded to the 1500 block of Maple Avenue sometime around 5 a.m. for report of a smoke condition.
Upon arrival, units found smoke showing out the rear and light smoke out the front of a mix dwelling building.
After forcing entry into the building, units found heavy fire in the kitchen of the restaurant.
All of the residents in the above apartments were safely evacuated as crews placed the fire under control with no injuries to firefighters or civilians.
The fire was contained to the kitchen of the business.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
