An armed robbery that turned into an assault of a high school student in Newark's South Ward has police searching for several suspects that are responsible.
The incident happened at a bus stop in the area of Clinton Avenue and Clinton Place shortly before 4:30 p.m. when several male suspects reportedly approached the victim armed with at least one gun and ordered personal possessions with the weapon drawn.
According to reports, while the vicim was attempting to hand over demanded items, the suspect began to physically strike the victim causing minor injuries before running from the scene with a cell phone.
The victim is a high school student at an area school.
The incident is under investigation by Newark Police.
