The Visual and Performing Arts Department of Orange High School, in association with Orange Preparatory Academy and the Greater Orange Elementary Schools are proud to announce their production of Geoffrey Holder’s The Wiz directed by Dana Levin, Drama Instructor at Orange High School.
This “over-the-top” spectacular musical incorporates all of the wonderful elements of musical theater the community has come to expect: Fabulous costumes, unbelievable makeup, comedic satire and the amazing talent of the OHS/OPA singers and dancers all joined together to create a show for all ages.
Performances are March 31, April 1, and 2nd: Thursday and Friday at 7:00 pm and two Saturday shows (with earlier performances for our youngest audience members) 1:00 pm (matinee) and 6:00 pm final performance.
Ms. Levin is excited for the opportunity to direct The Wiz, although Ms. Levin has previously directed 12 Angry Men, Aida, Grease, Sherlock Holmes, The Great Gatsby, and Little Shop of Horrors for the Orange School District, The Wiz is THE PLAY she has yearned to direct since childhood and after learning last spring that The Wiz would be broadcast as a live performance this year, she felt this would be the perfect time to bring this “Amazing Musical” to the “Great OPA Stage”.
A graduate of the American University in Washington D.C. who holds a degree in Musical Theater and Education, Ms. Levin enthusiastically states, “I am thrilled to be working with such an amazingly talented cast and crew!”
The Wiz will be presented at the Orange Preparatory Academy Auditorium, located at the intersection of Lincoln and Central Avenues, in Orange New Jersey.
The theatre is wheelchair-accessible with assisted hearing units available for the hearing impaired.
