Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Stratford Police Chief Ronald Morello announced a Stratford man accused of murdering his wife has been extradited from Virginia to New Jersey and will appear in court today.
Mario Flores, 33, is scheduled to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. today before Superior Court Judge Edward J. McBride Jr. in courtroom 36 at the Camden County Hall of Justice. He is charged with first-degree murder for allegedly fatally shooting 35-year-old Roxanne Flores at their Stratford home.
The victim was found deceased in her bedroom from a gunshot when police responded at approximately 1:32 a.m. on February 20th to her home on the unit block of Wright Avenue in Stratford for a well-being check.
Before police were called to the home, a sergeant on patrol in the area observed a blue Nissan Armada, later determined to belong to Mario Flores, pull out of the Flores residence around 12:50 a.m. and continue eastbound onto Route 30. Detectives spoke with family members and learned Mario Flores had dropped off his young daughter at a relative’s home in Lindenwold at approximately 1 a.m.
According to witness statements, Mario and Roxanne Flores were having marital problems and allegedly had an argument in which a handgun was involved.
During the investigation, detectives received information indicating that Mario Flores was near Alexandria, Virginia, and notified authorities there. Alexandria City Police conducted a vehicle stop and detained him at approximately 8 a.m. on February 20th. Flores is currently being held in the Camden County Jail.
