A large snake found in the city's East Ward has police investigating.
Newark Police and Emergency Services Unit were called to the 30's block of Fillmore Street at around 1:30 p.m. on reports of a suspicious package.
Units arrived to the scene where they located a box which contained a 6ft long living snake according to a resident on the block.
It is not immediately known who left the snake abandoned in the community made up of two and three family homes.
