Police are investigating a pedestrian strike that left a woman seriously injured this afternoon in Irvington.
Emergency crews responded to reports of a pedestrian struck and injured near the Supremo Supermarket at around 2 p.m. this afternoon.
Units arrived to the scene where they located the woman laying on the ground suffering serious injuries according to reports.
An initial investigation indicated that the armored truck backed into the woman forcing the woman to the ground. Eyewitnesses said the woman is a senior citizen and known in the area.
A spokesperson from the Essex County Prosecutor's Office could not confirm a fatality as of 4:45 p.m.
