Linden Police, Office of Emergency Management Receive Over $35K in Donations

Linden

The Linden Police Department and Office of Emergency Management recently received separate donations of $14,000 and $25,000 from Phillips 66 of Linden to be used for new equipment.

The $14,000 donation was used to enhance the police department’s Nixle 911 System, which notifies Linden residents via text message and email of any news, traffic problems, or other emergency and non-emergency bulletins coming out of the police department.

Linden residents have to register through nixle.com and there is no fee. Nixle builds upon the existing Reverse 9-1-1 as a community notification outlet.

The Linden Office of Emergency Management also received a $25,000 donation towards the purchase of a generator for the OEM headquarters on N. Stiles Street.

The building can be used as an alternate site for emergency services and dispatching in the event of a power outage as evidenced by Hurricane Sandy in 2012.

Both donations were presented by Mary Phillips and Nancy Sadlon of Phillips 66.
