Authorities in Newark are investigating an armed robbery of a charter school educator that happened in the city's Central Ward this afternoon.
Police responded to the area of South Orange Avenue and South 9th Street at around 5 p.m. on reports of an armed robbery in progress.
Units arrived to the scene where they located the female victim who reported to them that while waiting for a bus with several students in the area, a black male suspect approached armed with a gun and demanded personal possessions while he pointed the gun at her.
The victim reportedly handed over a cell phone shortly before the suspect shouted to the students "do you all want to get shot?" Then he ran from the scene.
