A critically injured woman was transported to St. Barnabas Medical Center Sunday after a fire broke out at a Jacques Street duplex.
Crews responded to the duplex on the 100 block of Jacques Street shortly before 3 p.m. following a report fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered fire coming from the basement of a two-and-a-half story wood-frame duplex. The basement occupant, a woman, was transported to St. Barnabas Medical Center, where she was last listed in critical condition.
No other physical injuries were immediately reported, according to officials.
The fire was confined to the basement and was declared under control by 3:09 p.m.
