Armed Robbery Leaves Woman Stabbed in Newark

Two victims were reportedly sitting in a truck in the parking lot of Grace Manor when according to reports, a black male suspect snatched the passenger door open and demanded drugs and money.

According to reports, the victims believed that the suspect was a joking until the man pulled out a brown pocket knife.

Still not realizing that the suspect was serious, one of the victims pushed the man away when he began to stab the seat of truck several times the report said.

One of the victims then jumped out the driver side and reportedly ran to the building for help while assuming that security would be available.

As one of the victims searched for assistance, the remaining victim was in a physical struggle with the robber the report said.

The returning victim ran to the passenger side to assist in helping her friend with the struggle when the suspect began to run from the scene.

One of the victims reportedly chased the suspect while dialing 911 the report said.

When the victim couldn't catch up with the suspect, she returned to the truck to find that friend had gotten stabbed in the calf of her leg.

" I jumped in my truck attempting to find the suspect in case the police answered the phone which they never did then I waived a police officer down by basically chasing him down and blowing my horns" one of the victims said.

"I turned into Grace Manor really fast and when I jumped out of my vehicle to run to the squad car, I got a police officer's presence then about 5 squad cars showed up".

EMS transported the victim to the hospital while the other victim was taken to a precinct to make a report.

The suspect got away with $87, a cell phone, and a pack of Newport's the report said.
