The New Jersey State Police is seeking the public's assistance with locating Roy A. Allen, 23, of Brooklyn, N.Y., who is wanted for conspiracy to commit theft by deception.
On Tuesday, February 9, troopers from Sussex Station were investigating a money order scam at the Branchville and Augusta U.S. Post Offices in Sussex County.
Francois Toussaint, 25, of Brooklyn, N.Y., allegedly exchanged fraudulent $1000 money orders for smaller denominations at various Post Office locations. After an alert was sent to offices in surrounding areas, Hamburg Police Department arrested Francois Toussaint after he was recognized at the Hamburg Post Office.
He was charged by Hamburg Police before being taken into custody by troopers from Sussex Station.
During the subsequent investigation, troopers were able to identify Roy Allen as an accomplice. Allen is alleged to have driven Toussaint to and from different locations in a dark-colored Acura TL. He was charged with conspiracy to commit theft by deception. There is currently an active warrant for his arrest.
Francois Toussaint was charged with forgery, theft by deception, criminal attempt, false government documents, and criminal simulation.
