Several Newark residents were displaced after a fire broke out in their South Ward home overnight.
Heavy fire ripped through the upper levels of a house located in the 700 block of South 11th Street early this morning.
Firefighters rushed to the scene shortly before 1 a.m. where they arrived to find thick smoke and flames coming from the two and a half story house located at 795 South 11th Street.
Crews were able to bring the fire under control with no injuries reported after a search of the house. The fire left the home a total lost.
The Red Cross assisted about three displaced residents.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
