A 3-alarm fire that broke out in a building in Paterson had a firefighter suffering injuries and several residents displaced.
Heavy fire consumed the upper levels of a three story building that was occupied by several residents, sent firefighters to 477/479 Main Street shortly before 2 a.m. where crews immediately began battling intense flames coming from the building.
Firefighters fought the fire from the exterior for almost 3 hours before the building totally collapsed.
Crews brought the blaze under control at around 4:30 a.m.
One firefighter suffered a non-life threatening injury.
Over three dozen residents were assisted by the Red Cross with temporary shelter.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
