The New Jersey State Police is investigating a fatal crash that killed one man and injured five people early this morning on State Highway 49 in Fairfield Township.
Based on the preliminary investigation, at 7:42 a.m., Larry Waller, 43, of Bridgeton, was traveling westbound on State Highway 49 when he crossed into the eastbound lane and struck a school bus, which was driven by Osheia Wallace, 48, of Bridgeton.
As a result of the collision, the bus ran off of the eastbound roadway and overturned.
Larry Waller was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Bus passengers Nyreek Russell, 15, Cristal Alvarez, 14, Shy-Anne Walker 17, and Ja-Nye Brown, 11, all of Bridgeton, were transported to Inspira Medical Center with minor injuries, and Vera Cole, 82, of Fairfield, was transported to Cooper Medical Center with serious injuries. She was last reported to be in critical, but stable condition.
The details and circumstances of the crash are still under investigation.
There are no charges pending at this time.
