Police in Newark are on the search for the suspect that took a taxi cab at gunpoint early this morning in the city.
Cops repsonded to the area of Clinton Avenue at Osborne Terrace at around 3:15 a.m. on reports of a carjacking in progress.
Units arrived to the scene where the driver of the taxi reported to police that a black male suspect pointed a weapon and demanded the vehicle.
The suspect then drove off from the scene at a high rate of speed according to the victim.
The suspect has only been described as a black male who was last seen wearing dark clothing and dreads.
The vehicle is a silver 2011 Crown Victoria taxi cab.
There were no physical injuries immediately reported.
