A 58-year-old attorney accused of offering to represent female clients at a reduced rate in exchange for sexual favors was found dead this morning from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
According to Somerset County Prosecutor's Office, Richard P. Schubach, was charged Monday with three counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact.
Raritan Borough police responded to a welfare check at 1124 Route 202 at approximately 6:51 a.m. Tuesday.
Responding officers found Schubach inside his parked vehicle outside an office complex adjacent to his law office at approximately 7:35 a.m. Schumach had a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his chest, authorities stated.
He was pronounced dead at 8:05 a.m. by Emergency Medical Technicians from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset.
The exact cause of death is pending an autopsy.
According to Somerset County Prosecutor's Office,
their office received information that Schubach allegedly offered several of his female clients a reduced rate for his legal fees in exchange for sexual favors.
Last week, a female undercover detective went to his law office twice where she allegedly confirmed Schubach client's allegations.
