Victims of Double Newark Homicide Identified

Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose announced today that the Newark Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating a double homicide.

Authorities said last night at approximately 8:30 p.m. Newark Police were called to a shooting in progress in the 300 block of New Street.

When they arrived on the scene they discovered two men suffering from apparent gun shot wounds in a vehicle parked on the street.

Terrance M. Moore, Jr., 23, of Newark was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second occupant of the vehicle was transported to University Hospital in critical condition.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital. He has been identified as Derrick A. Valentine, 22, of Newark.

The investigation is active and ongoing.

Authorities said at this time, no suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made.
