The final suspect wanted in connection with the brutal beating of a Newark man, surrendered, according to city officials.
According to Newark Police Department spokesman Captain Derek Glenn, Tevone Craig, 20, of Newark, surrendered yesterday and was later taken into custody at the department's 3rd Precinct facility.
Craig was charged with robbery, aggravated assault and conspiracy.
On Jan. 10, Craig along with four men - Jahid Smith, 18, of Irvington, Corey Sabb, 21, Joshua Craig, 18, both of Newark and Julio Pendola, 28 - allegedly attacked the 28-year-old victim around 1 p.m. in the area of Broad and Market streets apparently over cigarettes.
After a video of the beating surfaced on social media, an investigation into the beating was initiated.
