Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrests of Edison Saldivar-Valdez of EDISON SALDIVAR-VALDEZ, 32, of 456 Sixth Street, Palisades Park, and Audy Rodríguez, 35, of Clifton, on drug possession charges.
On Jan. 23, a motor vehicle stop was conducted in South Hackensack on a vehicle being operated by Rodríguez.
During the stop, Rodríguez was found to be in possession of approximately fourteen kilograms of cocaine with an estimated wholesale value of $500,000.00 and an estimated street value of $1,800,000.00.
Further investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant at the residence of Saldivar-Valdez during which he was placed under arrest and numerous money wrappers as well as a machine used to detect counterfeit currency were seized.
Both men were each charged with one (1) count of possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, namely cocaine, in a quantity greater than five (5) ounces, a crime of the first degree.
Saldivar-Valdez was also charged with one (1) count of conspiracy to possess with the Intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, namely cocaine, in a quantity greater than five (5) ounces, a crime of the second degree.
Bail for Rodriguez was set by the Honorable Louis J. Dinice, J.M.C. at $100,000.00 with no ten percent option.
Rodriguez was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of bail.
Bail for Saldivar-Valez was set by the Honorable Magali M. Francois, J.S.C. at $150,000.00 with no ten percent option. He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of bail.
