Getaway Driver in Fatal East Orange Shooting Gets Probation

East Orange Newark

A former Newark man who served as the getaway driver after a fatal shooting that ultimately lead police on pursuit received probation.

Rondell Riddell, 28, formerly of Newark, was sentenced Friday to time served and three years of probation after he pleaded guilty on Nov. 20 to an eluding charge.

On March 2013, Riddell's co-defendants – 21-year-old Rashi Finch, formerly of Irvington, and 22-year-old Tarik Ford, formerly of East Orange - participated a fatal shooting that killed in Craig Pinckney, Jr.

Ford and Finch then fled the scene in a vehicle driven by Riddell.

Riddell ensued a pursuit through four Essex County towns.

He was only charged with eluding offenses and not charges related to the killing.

According to the judge, because Riddell had spent 263 days in custody, he received time served.

Finch and Ford were both sentenced on Oct. 20 to seven years and five years in state prison, after pleading guilty on Sept. 9.
