EMS transported a female victim to an area hospital after she was found stabbed late last night in Montclair.
Police responded to reports of an injured person in the 80's block of Mission Street a little after 10:30 p.m.
Units arrived to the scene where they found the victim bleeding from the chest after apparently being stabbed at that location.
Cops began a search for a short light-skinned black male who was last seen wearing a dark shirt and jeans when he fled the scene of the stabbing.
A man fitting the description of the suspect was located and detained by police a short distance away.
The extent of the woman's injuries have only been reported as serious as of early this morning.
