The Essex County Prosecutor's Office have identified a man who was fatally struck by a vehicle late Sunday evening.
According to authorities, on Sunday, Jan, 3, 2016, a pedestrian was struck and killed by a man driving a Toyota 4 Runner SUV in the vicinity of Mount Prospect Avenue and Bloomfield Avenue in Newark.
Authorities said the victim has been identified as Saul Simoes, 75, of Newark.
Simoes was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 6:35 pm.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
