A Newark arts school instructor accused of stabbing a man multiple times in the head and neck made her first court appearance via video link Monday.
Kimberly Cintron, 26, of Jersey City appeared in Central Judicial Procession court via video link from Hudson County jail after stabbing a man multiple times with a kitchen knife.
Just after midnight Thursday, police responded to a Communipaw Avenue apartment building where they found Cintron crying on the stairs with blood stained pants. Officers asked if she was injured and she allegedly replied “no” but he is directing police upstairs.
At the apartment, officers found a male victim sitting in a pool of blood suffering from multiple stab wounds to his neck and head.
The victim told police that turned physical when Cintron struck him in the face with a closed fist. Adding he grabbed her hands to stop her from hitting him but she managed to break free. At this point, she grabbed the knife.
The victim was transported to Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health with non- life threatening injuries.
Cintron was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon with unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
Her bail was set at $30,000 with a 10 percent cash option.
According to the Newark School of Arts website, Cintron has been at NSA since September 2013. She is a graduate of Rutgers University Business School with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing. Cintron teaches the Crafting with Kids Class lad helps photograph the student artwork and performances.
