Robbery Suspect Arrested; Trenton Officer Accidentally Shoots Officer in Scuffle

Trenton

A Trenton officer shot a fellow police officer in the foot during a scuffle with a 30-year-old Hamilton man wanted for an apartment burglary.

Officers Michael Tradigo and Luis Cruz responded to an apartment on the 1900 block of South Clinton Avenue for a report of a burglary in progress around 2:41 Monday morning.

When the officers arrived at the apartment, the suspect - later identified as Alexis Feliciano, 30, of Hamilton - ran out and assaulted them, ultimately causing one of the officer's weapon to accidentally discharge.

The fired shot injured the second responding officer's foot. He was treated and released from a local hospital.

Feliciano, who was not harmed, was charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest and burglary. His bail was set at $50,000.

The shooting remains under investigation by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force.
