Shooting at Party in Paterson Leaves Two Dead

Gunfire that erupted inside a warehouse converted for party goers in Paterson left two people dead early this morning in the city.

Heavy police presence rushed to the area of Madison Avenue at 1st Avenue shortly before 4 a.m. on reports of shots fired with several people injured.

First arriving units encountered a large crowd at a former warehouse that was being used for a party site at that location.

Officers located several people suffering injuries, with at least two of the victims injured via of gunfire according to reports at the scene.

The most seriously injured victim was reportedly shot to head (temple) and died at the scene.

EMS located a second victim suffering life threatening injuries after being shot several times according to reports. The victim was rushed to St. Josephs Hospital under police escort. The victim was pronounced dead shortly before 5:30 a.m.

At least one other person suffered a hand injury but it was not immediately clear if the injury was the result of gunfire at this time.

The incident is under investigation by the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office and Paterson Police.
