An early afternoon Christmas Day blaze that ripped through a house in Secaucus had firefighters from several municipalities heavy at work into the evening hours.
The three-alarm blaze began in the basement and quickly spread upward throughout the building shortly before 3:00 p.m. at 9 Myrtle Ave.
Firefighters from Jersey City, North Arlington, Lyndhurst, and Kearny assisted at the scene to keep the fire from spreading to several near-by homes.
According to initial reports at the scene, at least one person has not been accounted for at this time.
Firefighters still have not taken full control of the blaze as of 6 p.m.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
