Several armed carjackings that happened in Newark has police searching for suspects.
A double carajacking that happened in the 100 block of 12th Avenue had police locate two victim in the 100 block of Bergen Street (University Hospital) a little after 6:30 a.m.
According to the victims, about three ski-masked wearing suspects exited a red colored 4X4 armed with guns and took a grey Toyota RAV4 with a reported NJ license plate number ""V28-FPR" and a Black Infinity Q37 with a reported license plate number ""W76-CBP" as they were preparing to make their way to work, driving in that area this morning.
The suspects reportedly pistol whipped the male victim to the head, causing a non-life threatening injury.
The suspects then reportedly fled westbound on 12th Avenue and are considered armed and dangerous.
Police responded to the 80's block of Hansbury Avenue at around 5:15 a.m. on reports of a carjacking in progress. Officers arrived to the scene where they located the victim who reported being approached by two armed black males who pointed their weapons and took a black 2014 Jeep Cherokee before fleeing the scene.
The vehicle has a reported NJ license plate number "R69-EDL".
Shortly before 1:30 a.m. in the city's South Ward, police responded to reports of a carjacking in progress in the 100 block of Leslie Street where officers arrived to the scene and located the victim who told them that as many as four black males exit a burgundy or red SUV armed with at least one handgun and demanded the vehicle before threatening to shoot.
The vicim reportedly handed over a blue 2013 Nissan Altima with a reported NJ license plate number "P787-EUE".
The vehicle is reported to be an Enterprise rental car according to reports.
Early in the evening, police responded to the 500 block of Sanford Avenue on reports of a carjacking in progress when they arrived to the scene and began searching for a red 2015 GMC Arcadia. The vehicle has a reported NJ license plate number "R65-FVK".
According to the victim, a black male suspect approached armed with a gun and wearing a "scully" hat when he pointed the weapon and demanded the vehicle.
There were no physical injuries reported in any of the carjackings.
