A late night strong armed robbery that happened near The Rutgers Newark Campus set police (who were already patrolling the campus grounds) in motion.
Police responded to the area of Warren Street at University Avenue at around 9 p.m. on reports of a strong armed robbery that happened a short time before officers arrived.
Officers located the victim who reported to them that a black male suspect approached at took personal possessions before running away from the scene northbound on University Avenue.
Heavy police presence canvassed the area around the campus in search of the suspect that cops located about two blocks from the robbery scene.
The suspect was identified and immediately placed in custody.
There were no physical injuries reported.
It is not immediately known if the apprehended man is the suspect wanted for several strong armed robberies on and around the campus.
