Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp announces that Zakee Odom, 25, of Newark, was sentenced today for weapon and drug offenses.
This prosecution stemmed from the arrest of Odom on March 24, 2014, when he was stopped in a motor vehicle during a related investigation in Parsippany. He was found in possession of a handgun and a quantity of oxycodone and charged.
On September 29, Odom pled guilty before the Honorable Stephen Taylor, P.J.Cr. to unlawful possession of a handgun (2nd degree) possession of a controlled dangerous substance (3rd degree) and certain persons not to possess weapons (2nd degree).
Today, the Honorable Catherine Enright, J.S.C, sentenced Odom to seven years New Jersey State Prison with five years parole ineligibility on the charge of certain persons to possess weapons, seven years New Jersey State Prison with forty-two months parole ineligibility on the charge of unlawful possession of a weapon, and five years New Jersey State prison on the charge of possession of a controlled dangerous substance. The sentences will run concurrent.
