A ninth grade student at Columbia High School in Maplewood is facing serious charges, including terroristic threats and aggravated assault, after he allegedly threatened a classmate with what police say was a toy gun.
On Dec. 3, the school was placed on lockdown after several students reported to school officials seeing the boy with the gun – ultimately a toy gun with the safety feature removed – after some sort of altercation arose with a 14-year-old classmate.
Police responded to investigate the threat.
The unidentified student was later charged with possession of an imitation firearm, false public alarm, terroristic threats, aggravated assault, and possession of a weapon in an educational institution.
