Two Men Indicted in 2013 Camden Homicide

Camden

Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson report a Grand Jury has returned an indictment for two men charged in a 2013 Camden homicide.

Wilbert Shively, 25, and Fernando Rivera, 19, both of Camden, were both indicted on first-degree counts of murder, felony murder, conspiracy to commit murder and robbery in the killing of 19-year-old William Custis IV of Camden.

Both men were also indicted on second-degree counts of conspiracy to commit robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. Shively was indicted on two additional weapons offenses including a certain persons charge. A Grant Jury returned the nine-count indictment on Tuesday.

Shively and Rivera are accused of killing Custis in the course of a robbery shortly before noon on August 11, 2013. The victim was found fatally shot in the driver’s seat of a 1986 Honda Civic that crashed into a fence in the area of Louis Street and Atlantic Avenue in Camden. Shively and Rivera are alleged to have been passengers in Custis’ car when it crashed.

Rivera, who was 17 at the time of the crime, had his case waived from juvenile court to adult court in July.
