A late night fire that ripped through a home in Irvington has firefighters still on the scene extinguishing hot spots at this time.
Firefighters responded to reports of a fire inside a residence located in the 800 block of Lyons Ave. shortly before 1:30 a.m.
Crews arrived to find the upper level of the structure engulfed in heavy fire with extensions to homes on both sides. Firefighters battled the blaze that quickly developed into multiple alarms after the entire home was engulfed in fire.
The fire was brought under control in about two hours with more than a half dozen residents displaced. The house is at a total lost with fire damage to homes on both sides.
A firefighter was transported to the hospital suffering a non-life threatening leg injury.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
