Troopers and other members the United States Marshals Service NY/NJ Regional Task Force captured a man wanted for his role in an international car theft ring.
Kenneth Daniels who was on the run since Tuesday, October 27, when charges were pressed as a part of the “Operation 17 Corridor” takedown.
Thursday morning, investigators found Daniels on Springfield Avenue in Irvington, where he attempted to flee and resist the arrest but he was apprehended shortly after.
In addition to the existing charges of racketeering, receiving stolen property, dealing/fencing stolen property, and money laundering, he now faces charges of resisting arrest.
This international carjacking and stolen car trafficking ring dismantled in the operation stole luxury cars from locations along the Route 17 corridor as well as parts of New York and exported many of the cars to countries in western Africa.
Daniels was lodged in Morris County Jail on $1 million bail.
