Elizabeth firefighters responded to a two-alarm fire at 402 Elizabeth Avenue last night with possible entrapments.
Crews arrived to find heavy fire shortly before 10:30 p.m. after the blaze broke out in the rear of the building, quickly spreading up the back stairs.
A search of the premises, after initial reports of trapped occupants, came back negative and all the residents were accounted for.
The building which is comprised of a commercial space and apartments was heavily damaged, leaving at least two families displaced.
There were no reported injuries.
