A brazened early evening armed robbery of a Dunkin Donuts restaurant that happened in the township Tuesday has police in Irvington on the search for two suspects.

According to store officials, the male and female suspects entered the establishment located in the 500 block of Chancellor Ave. at around 6:45 p.m.

Armed with a gun, both suspects jumped over the counter with their faces partially covered.

"Chancellor Ave. has become more and more dangerous and we don't feel safe. The Wendy's was robbed at gunpoint sometime ago that no one ever said anything about" store officials said.

Store surveillance videos showed one of the suspects (later described as a male) immediately charge towards the driver through window where a female employee was preparing to take order requests from a potential customer.

At gunpoint, the suspect ordered the victim to stand to the side while he emptied the drive-thru register of cash.

He then physically steered the worker to the front of the store where he ordered the worker to open that cash register.

The suspect then snatched cash from the register before jumping back over the counter, out the door reportedly to a waiting vehicle.

Store officials said that a little over $600 dollars was taken during the hold up.

Police stopped at least one vehicle on Coit Street that fit the description but a further investigation was negative for suspects.

"Besides being a little emotionally shakened, there were no physical injuries", store officials said.
