An investigation is underway in Newark after a stabbing left a woman seriously injured.
Police responded to several reports of an assault with a person injured that happened in the area of Clinton Ave. and South 18th Street shortly after 8:30 pm.
Arriving units located the female victim seriously injured after being stabbed in the back.
The woman (who is reported to be around the age of 40-years-old) was rushed to University Hospital where she was admitted into surgery. Her injuries were not reported to be life threatening.
A second person involved in the stabbing was treated at the hospital and released.
There were no reports of arrests in the incident.
