Two Summit residents are charged with several narcotics offenses apiece after a search of their home earlier this week revealed quantities of ecstasy, Xanax, cocaine, and marijuana, Summit Police Chief Robert Weck and acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park jointly announced Friday.
Connor Donahue, 18, is charged with second-degree possession of ecstasy with the intent to distribute, second-degree possession of Xanax with the intent to distribute, multiple related third-degree drug offenses, first-degree maintaining a marijuana production facility, and second-degree possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute. Marina Donahue, 52, his mother, is charged with the latter two named offenses as well as related third-degree drug charges.
The arrests marked the result of a joint narcotics investigation involving the Summit Police Department, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the Prosecutor’s Office’s Guns, Gangs, Drugs, and Violent Crimes Task Force. Members of those three agencies and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service assisted in making the arrests and searching the defendants’ Beekman Terrace home, after which more than 100 ecstasy pills, approximately 120 Xanax pills, approximately three grams of cocaine, multiple marijuana plants, lighting and ventilation systems, potting soil, pH testing kits, insecticide, marijuana wax, scales, packaging materials, butane canisters, and other materials and paraphernalia were seized.
Bail was set at $150,000 and $200,000 for Marina and Connor Donahue, respectively.
Convictions on first-degree crimes are punishable by 10 to 20 years in state prison, while convictions on second-degree offenses typically result in terms of 5 to 10 years in state prison.
