The New Jersey State Police is seeking the public's assistance with locating a man wanted for selling a fake vehicle warranty to a Sussex Borough man.
On January 9, the victim agreed to purchase an extended vehicle warranty from Michael Mathews, 46, of Sparta. The victim provided Mathews with a worth more than $4,500.
Mathews provided paperwork from Diamond Warranty Corporation, which led the victim to believe his vehicle has extended warranty coverage.
In November of 2014, the victim discovered that his truck did not have the extended coverage when he repairs done.
Mathews is known to frequent Lake Neeapaulin area and has ties to Lafayette, N.J. and Eastern Pennsylvania. He is also known to dress as a female using the alias Cyndi Kirk.
There is currently a warrant for his arrest.
