Bayonne Woman Accused of Choking Husband with Lamp Cord Charged

A Bayonne woman has been charged with assault after choking her 50-year-old husband with a chain link lamp cord on Monday, Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Gene Rubino said.

Police responded to the West Fifth Street home sometime around 10:30 p.m., where they found the unresponsive victim with blood coming from his neck and his face purple, Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor John Wojtal said yesterday in court.

The victim was transported to Bayonne Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition as of this morning.

According to complaint, Michelle Hurley was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a chain link lamp cord for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon – the lamp cord.

Her bail was set at $100,000 with a 10 percent cash option and has been ordered to have no contact with her husband.
