Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Police Director Eugene Venable announced today that the Newark Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are in the early stages of investigating a fatal shooting.
Shortly after 4 a.m. today a male was fatally shot in the 500 block of South 19th Street. The victim has been identified as Elijah Q. Greene, 23, of Elizabeth. He was pronounced dead at 4:23 a.m. today at University Hospital.
At this time no arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified. The investigation is active and ongoing.
