An early morning shooting in the city's West Ward has authorities investigating a fatality.
Gunfire rang out at around 5:15 a.m. in the area of 19th Street and 16th Ave. sending police the short distance from their precinct to the scene where they found a male victim suffering a gunshot wound at that location.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed that the victim died a short time later.
There were no arrest reported and the motive for the shooting is under investigation.
