An armed robbery turned into an assault late last night in the city's East Ward.
Police responded to reports of shots fired in the 100 block of Christie Street at around 12:30 a.m. where responding units arrived to find a victim who reported being physically assaulted (punched in the face) then robbed at that location.
The suspect then unloaded one round of gunfire in the direction of the victim before fleeing in an unknown direction according to the victim.
Units canvassing the area for the suspect who was described as a skinny black male wearing dark clothing , located at least one shell casing at the scene.
EMS treated the victim for minor injuries.
There were no arrests reported.
