Update: Elizabeth Man Struck, Killed by Car in Woodbridge

An Elizabeth man crossing Route 27 with a walker this morning was struck and killed by a car, authorities said.

Police say Geza Kish was struck around 4:30 a.m. near the roadway's intersection with Wood Avenue. He was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he was later pronounced dead.

According to police, the 75-year-old Geza Kish was attempting to cross the highway near Wood Avenue against the traffic lights and outside of the crosswalk, when he was struck by a 1995 Ford Escort at approximately 4:30 a.m. driven by a 73-year-old Edison man.

The identity of the driver is being withheld at this time. No tickets or charges against the driver, according to police.
